Enrolling at St. Paul's Kindergarten

What Is the Enrolment Policy?

Applications submitted through the Central Registration Scheme are considered in accordance with:

  • Victorian Government kindergarten enrolment requirements
  • Boroondara Council’s Central Registration procedures
  • St Paul’s Anglican Kindergarten’s enrolment priorities
  • The availability of places within each program

We also have an Enrolment and Orientation Policy on our website that explains how enrolments offers are managed and how children are supported when beginning kindergarten.

How Are Applications Prioritised?

Where the number of applications is greater than the number of available places, applications are considered according to our enrolment priority criteria.

Priority may be given to:

  1. Children at risk of abuse or neglect and other children identified as high priority under Victorian Government guidelines
  2. Children who have been approved for a second funded year of kindergarten
  3. Children for whom St Paul’s is their closest community kindergarten
  4. Families residing within the City of Boroondara
  5. Children who previously attended the Three-Year-Old Kindergarten program at St Paul’s
  6. Children who have had a sibling attend St Paul’s
  7. Families with connections to St Paul’s Anglican Parish or local community
  8. Families living closest to the kindergarten

Meeting a priority category does not automatically guarantee a place. Offers remain subject to program capacity and the number of applications received.

When Will I Find Out About My Child’s Place?

Kindergarten offers are coordinated by Boroondara Council and are generally released in rounds.

The timing of an offer may depend on:

  • When the application was submitted
  • The family’s selected kindergarten preferences
  • The child’s eligibility and priority category
  • The number of available places
  • Whether other families accept or decline their offers

Families should ensure that their contact details and kindergarten preferences remain current through the Central Registration Scheme.

When Can I Register Interest?

Families can register with Boroondara Council and receive kindergarten enrolment updates from their child’s birth.

A formal application is generally submitted during the year before the child is due to begin kindergarten. Applications usually open between May and June; however, families should check the Boroondara Council website for confirmed dates.

Late applications may still be accepted, but places will depend on program availability.
