Our Philosophy

At St Paul’s Anglican Kindergarten, we are committed to providing an outstanding early childhood education experience for every child. We value strong partnerships with families and our wider kindergarten community, working collaboratively to support positive outcomes for children through best practice and evidence informed approaches.

We recognise that every child is unique and strive to provide programs that are responsive to their individual strengths, interests, and needs. By taking into account each child’s personal and family circumstances, we create a nurturing and inclusive environment where children feel a strong sense of belonging and are supported to thrive.

Our programs are thoughtfully designed to foster wellbeing, confidence, curiosity, and a lifelong love of learning, ensuring that every child is empowered to reach their full potential.

In relation to children we:

  • Believe that children learn best through play, which provides opportunities to discover, create, imagine, explore, and develop a lifelong love of learning.
  • Welcome and support children with diverse strengths and individual needs, working in close partnership with families and external professionals to achieve the best possible outcomes for every child.
  • Foster the ongoing development of communication skills, social awareness, self regulation, and resilience, supporting children to become capable learners.
  • Recognise that children learn in different ways and view them as active participants and contributors to their own learning.

In relation to education we:

  •  Value children’s ideas and interests through an emergent curriculum that encourages exploration, enquiry, and active participation.
  • Use intentional teaching to scaffold and extend learning, supporting children to develop confidence, independence, communication skills, and emotional wellbeing.
  • Embrace creativity as a process of discovery and expression, and provide open ended learning environments that encourage imagination and problem solving.
  • Are committed to inclusive practices and strong partnerships with families and professionals, ensuring every child has a strong sense of belonging, is valued as an individual, and is supported to thrive.

In relation to families we:

  • We believe strong partnerships between families and educators are essential in supporting each child’s identity, wellbeing, and sense of belonging.
  • We welcome families to share their skills, interests, and experiences with the children, helping to enrich our program through meaningful shared learning.
  • Believe open and respectful communication is the heart of what we do. We aim to build trusting relationships with families through ongoing, honest, and supportive conversations.
  • We encourage families to be actively involved in our kindergarten community through Stay and Play days, and ensure everyone feels welcomed, included, and valued.

In relation to educators we:

  • We believe in strong teamwork and value the unique skills, knowledge, and contributions of all of our educators. This collaborative approach supports a unified team that delivers high quality early childhood programs.
  • Our educators are passionate, skilled, and committed to ongoing professional learning and development, ensuring our practice continues to grow and improve.
  • We embrace reflective practice as an essential part of our work. By regularly reflecting on our teaching, we gain valuable insights that inform and strengthen our program decisions, supporting the delivery of high quality early childhood education.

In relation to community we:

  • Recognise every child as a valued and important member of our community.
  • Actively engage with the wider community to build meaningful connections between children, families, and the kindergarten, strengthening a strong sense of belonging and connection.
  • Deeply value the contribution of volunteers at St Paul’s Anglican Kindergarten and acknowledge the important role they play in enriching our program and supporting children’s learning experiences.

In relation to diversity we:

  • Recognise, respect, and celebrate the uniqueness of every child, family, and educator within our community.
  • Are committed to creating an inclusive environment where all cultures, identities, abilities, and backgrounds are valued and reflected in our everyday practice.
